With the new erion models, ALCAR is fundamentally redefining the steel wheel segment. The latest generation combines advanced full-face design with a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions and optimised technical properties. erion thus positions itself as a future-proof solution for the automotive industry’s growing demands regarding resource efficiency and fleet emissions.
At a time when the automotive industry is under significant regulatory pressure regarding CO₂ targets and WLTP cycles, ALCAR provides a technically mature solution with the erion. The wheel is no longer merely a functional component, but a strategic tool for optimising the vehicle’s overall performance – both economically and ecologically.

The erion designer steel wheel is based on an advanced manufacturing technology that enables high structural integrity whilst maintaining a lightweight design. Compared to conventional solutions, the latest generation is weight-optimised, which improves vehicle dynamics and reduces energy consumption.
Particular attention has been paid to aerodynamics: the “Full-Face” design minimises air turbulence on the outer side of the wheel, which can contribute to increased range, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Innovative details such as increased strength thanks to ventilation holes moved outwards and an optimised brake clearance make the erion a plug-and-drive solution for state-of-the-art vehicle architectures, including sufficient space for TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring systems).

A key selling point for specialist customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) is the environmental footprint. The production of an erion steel wheel generates up to 80 per cent fewer CO₂ emissions compared to original wheels of the same dimensions made from primary aluminium.
“Sustainability is part of our DNA,” states the company regarding the new product line.
At its production site in Switzerland, ALCAR relies on a forward-looking energy concept. As the Swiss electricity mix is already among the cleanest in Europe, production starts with an excellent environmental foundation. Through a large-scale, in-house photovoltaic system, ALCAR reduces the manufacturing footprint even further. Furthermore, a recycling rate of over 50 per cent in the material cycle and the exclusive use of European raw materials ensure short supply chains and an optimised logistics balance.

Visually, erion breaks with the classic steel wheel aesthetic. The concave appearance and high-quality full-face design give the wheel a modern, premium finish previously reserved for alloy wheels. Thanks to high modular flexibility in terms of offset (ET), bolt circle diameter (PCD) and centre bore (CB), the erion can be efficiently used across a wide range of vehicle segments – from passenger cars to vans.
